Mercedes Benz Pop Up Shop, The SoNo Collection, South Norwalk, CT

As a Construction Manager for Brookfield Properties Retail, my challenge was to have the Mercedes Benz Pop Up Shop built with what I call ‘cartoon’ drawings from the vendor. After realizing that I wouldn’t get any other drawings, I hired an architect to do the electrical plans, which, in the end, was all the Town of Norwalk needed. There was coordination with the Mall Architect to check if the structure of the building would hold load of the car in its path to the store. To accommodate the promise of a ‘white box’. I designed the storefront, the flooring and selected the general pendant lighting.

Retail Storefront Design and Construction Management, The SoNo Collection, South Norwalk, CT

In addition to my work as the Construction Manager for Brookfield Properties Retail, I had the opportunity to design many of the storefronts, with detailing of alucabond metal, glass, roll down grills, and glass doors. Partnering with the contractors I created schematic drawings of what the storefronts should look like with material/colors, as well as selecting the other ‘white box’ elements inside such as flooring, lighting and stock areas. These spaces were created due to timing issues, with the project having late approvals.

My other work including the coordination of store installation for vendors such as Talbots, Artee Home, Lillian August, CAMP, Clarks, UnTuckit, Everee, Race Faster, Casper, Amazon. The work included:

Consulting for Brookfield Properties’ SoNo Collection Mall; Main point of contact for tenant space build outs including design and coordination of white box spaces. Manage project documentation to align with project scope and landlord and tenant criteria

Managed tenant allowances and cost forecasts

Managed RFI’s, punch lists, change orders, safety standards and project close-outs

Maintained regular alignment between leasing, strategic partnership, legal and development

Managed all schedules for tenants, incorporating owner supplied items, architect and construction efforts

Managed MEP tie in connections to building systems with subcontractors

Developed excellent working relationships with City Building Department, General Contractor, Tenant and their Contractors.

Managed permitting of tenants through the Norwalk Building Department

Manage tenant delivery schedules in coordination with Mall operations team for on time store opening

Hands on coordination with base building General Contractor, expediting solutions to tenant/building opening.
